Observations of the illusion through the eyes of wonder…

Drum Roll Please….

So…here I am, finally able to participate in Norm’s Thursday Doors famous regular prompt. Some blogging friends have been doing it for awhile and I just never caught the right door or found the energy on a Thursday evening to get my own post ready in time.

Now I feel almost giddy at being able to join in the fun. 👏🏻

There are many seaside cities and towns along the Florida coastline, some historic and famous while others might fall into the historically infamous category.  One certainty is that every one has its own unique flavor.

New Smyrna Beach may not seem like a happening place but it has some great shops, fun night spots, beautiful beaches, wonderful food (ask me about The Garlic ) and lots of local talent.

Fortunately for us, it is a short drive-or if you prefer the scenic route-the Water Taxi. We recently chose this mode of transportation-a relaxing, breezy ride which makes pit stops at several venues between Ponce Inlet and New Smyrna, allowing those on board to get off, collect a drink and reboard, or stay and enjoy food and/or shopping along the way. The taxi makes the rounds several times before its final dropoff back at Down the Hatch in Ponce Inlet, just in time for sunset. We chose to stay in New Smyrna for awhile and walk down Flagler Avenue, where there are plenty of shops, food, bars and parks to keep one busy until time to make the trip back down to the pier for the return trip. If you choose to stay longer, maybe squeeze in a beach visit, just take the ealiest ride and return on the last run!

We love the Banyan trees found in Florida and can never resist slipping in for a bit of shade and photos.

We caught the taxi here, at Down the Hatch, and it was our final destination as well. . They make amazing fish sandwiches and hush puppies!

Now….where was I? Oh yes! On our way to Flagler Tavern , one of the ‘must visit’ restaurant/bars in New Smyrna, we passed a dozen gift and art shops, including one that I cannot even recall the name or type of venue because I was too enthralled by the door. Simply done, it expresses my heart when it comes to matters of the ocean. So, without further ado, Here is my Thursday Door!

Isn’t she grand?

Oh, and we made it back in time for the sunset,  just a bit further up the road.

Happy Thursday!
