Love’s Autumn
In Love’s Autumn lie
tender hopes fast fading,
golden moments trembling
on brittle fingers that cling
to heart’s memory.
Chilly winds quake resolve
and snuff the flame of ill placed
admiration, glowing embers of
a fire now left to die.
Withered beauty of
transparent devotion,
stubbornly refusing to fall,
to let go the last fiber of
infinite love-and dreams
of Spring’s bright promise.
