Hi Everyone,

Well, it has been brought to my attention by a fellow blogger and friend that there is a bit of difficulty for him in reading due to not knowing how to pronounce the character’s names.  My husband had expressed this early on as well and, frankly, I have been avoiding it.  My original idea was to use names derived from Irish and Spanish origins which I have, although the Spanish ones appear later on. I used names that were as close to direct translations of what each character is about or what they represent, for Spiritual reasons more than anything else. What’s in a name? I see purpose, fulfillment, character and identity in a name.  In fact I have had some difficulty myself truly knowing how to call my characters even though I am very accustomed to who they are in print.

So, with a bit of research I found a site that gave me audio pronunciations of these words and I am now giving a list of characters from the very beginning of the story, along with the phonetically sounded pronunciation, as best that I can, as well as the meaning from which their name is derived.  I do hope this helps in reading.

On the other side of that coin, do feel free to pronounce the names any way that is comfortable for the name is not what is most important here, but the message that each one of these characters is bringing to life.  I apologize if I have had too grand a vision for naming my friends. I just didn’t want to have a list of modern characters set in the Time before Time, nor did I want to have a group of characters with prehistoric made-up Clingon names either. (no slight intended to Star Trek and its loyal followers.  Live long and prosper. )

Let’s list in order of appearance, and may my Irish friends (Frankie, Janey) please forgive any error in punctuation for authenticity. My keyboard does not have an option for the accentuating marks that are in some of these names. If you can tell me how to do it, I would be grateful. 🙂

If you read Chapter One- The Traveler/The Question, I did not assign names for a very important reason. That will come later. I do encourage you to read Chapter One. It is a critical part of the tale.

Okay, well, that is it for today, except that I will post some pictures of my mind’s interpretations of some of these characters. The others are still dancing in my mind, awaiting the day I have time to take up pencil and ink and bring them to life on paper. The miraculous thing is that these pictures were some created years ago, before the story came alive within my mind. I suppose it has always been there….
