Or….How I Spent My Birthday.
Yep, that’s right. It was my birthday. All in all a good day, in spite of moving that much farther from my youth. sigh. My youngest son shares my birthday which is a marvelous gift as I always say he was my favorite birthday present EVER.
So, when my husband asked what I wanted to do for my big day, all I could think of was that I hadn’t been out to take wildlife photos in such a long while. So, with a short trip in mind, I grabbed the camera, hopped in his van and we headed to the lakes around the LSU campus. I love going there since there can be so much to see and photograph. Today was no exception. My caption more realistically should read “Duck, duck, goose, dove, pigeon, turtle, egret, heron, etc…it was a marvelous afternoon! I want to share some of the photos with you here.
Duck, duck…
uh huhhh….
One of my favorites.
It seemed as though it has two pair of eyes!
Liftoff!
Hiding, but keeping an eye out for stray food bits on the water.
And sunning themselves in the late afternoon light.
The colors on these pigeons were marvelous
A bit of romance was in the air…but she wasn’t interested!
The snow white dove…
All around this lake
All grappling for tidbits.
Their feathers are magnificent arrays of color.
My birthday cake-after the feasting. yum
Yep, it was a terrific day….Happy Fourth everyone!
Great photos. I really like the Great Egret, that is one of my favorite birds.

They are regal, aren’t they? You would have a blast around the LSU lakes. So many birds in one place.
