Tropical Affair

Observations of the illusion through the eyes of wonder…

Welcome to Today

We had a wonderful day so I thought I would stray a bit to share it with you. A drive in the mountains is always rejuvenating…

Image

After my morning view and coffee, I spent some time with the birds…

Image

My husband’s favorite daily visitor..

Image

And his mate..

Image

and my little “hummers”…

Image

So sweet, so swift..

We had to make a plan for the day and one of my suggestions was a trip up to the San Isidro area, taking us past Baru and allowing me to dip my toes once more in its cool, clear waters.

Image

The mountains in this area always bring to mind my childhood days with Summer vacations spent in the Ozark Mountains with my family.  Good memories..

Image

I couldn’t wait to get in…

Image

I’m nine again…

Image

REALLY….”happy feet”. 🙂

And on up to the Baru Waterfalls site.

Image

Every turn in the road brings a breathtaking mountain view. Clouds. No clouds. I love the effect of the light as it casts shadows across the mountains and plant world.

Another of nature’s elusive creatures, the magical butterfly. So many and so busy!

Image

This was an old bridge that apparently was “the” bridge before the new one was built. And we were very happy for that progress.

Image

One thing that never ceases to amaze my husband is the natural fence posts which are cut, trimmed and placed in the ground only to take root and reemerge as living fence lines once the tree roots itself in the fertile soil. Beautiful effect and such a natural bit of privacy.

Image

This is a view of one of the waterfalls in the area. We didn’t get close to it. That would be another trip.

Image

The day was full of miracles, large and small..

Image

But all beautiful..

After driving until we felt the road was too treacherous even for our four wheel drive truck, we decided to head back and relax with some food and beer at a local bar/restaurant just recently opened by a long time resident who also runs the Baru Waterfalls Adventure Tours. Jaime was a most gracious host and set us up with ice cold beer and some of the most delicious Coconut Shrimp I have ever had. We ate out on the patio with an amazing view of the mountains with the distant waterfall in view.

This little “mascot” was cuddly and polite as we shared the view.

The Waterfall Tour can be taken on horseback and there is a place to swim once you arrive at the falls. For more information on the Baru Waterfall Adventure Tours, visit the website at http://www.baruwaterfalladventuretours.com.

I just couldn’t get over the amazing view and serenity of the place.

Lee enjoyed chilling with his beer and the view.

Our yummy food at the restaurant.

View from our seats

My husband’s favorite fruit in Costa Rica-their yummy bananas. And with so many varieties to choose from there are cooking options from sweet to savory.

It was a lovely day and we plan to return soon for the complete tour and waterfall adventure. Thank you Jaime! Cheryl and Lee

See you soon, Jaime!
