Hi friends, While we are on the subject of water, I thought it would be nice to share our morning on the Catamaran out of Quepos with the wonderful folks at Planet Dolphin Tours. There are tours for the morning … Continue reading A Catamaran Adventure
Hey All, Today I’d like to share our fishing excursion adventure. Oops, spoiler alert: If you are expecting amazing photos of giant Marlin, Sailfish or Rooster, be warned. We took our trip in the low season, the water was not … Continue reading A Day of Fishing
Okay, I thought I would share a little bit about our “on the waves” excursions while in Manuel Antonio. Perhaps it would be best to start at the beginning…. On our first trip to visit Manuel Antonio, my husband pumped … Continue reading On the Water….
Is like a circus with no clowns. And every day has been like a circus since we moved into our little jungle house. Chico has turned this little area into a wonderland of delights for birds and animals alike as they pass through on their daily journeys. We have even been fortunate enough to see some fairly rare birds for this section of our area. More on those later. Let me introduce you to my “kids”, the wonderfully entertaining, highly excitable and completely amazing Squirrel Monkeys, or “Titis” as they are nicknamed around here, short for Mono Titi. The scientific … Continue reading A Day Without Monkeys….
Did I mention we go to BarbaRoja a lot? Yep, I thought so. Well, we were there last night for another lovely sunset but were having fun with friends and enjoying the music of Robbie Clark, so I did not snap as many photos of the setting sun as I normally would have. I just wanted to post a bit of our fun and let you get a peek at Robbie and the band. Good times. Never a dull view.. PS Sorry no photo of the burger. It was devoured pretty quickly after it arrived. Oops. Next time. 🙂 Continue reading Encore BarbaRoja!
After we visited the birds we decided to head out for the waterfall trails. Now, trails at this reserve are not prehistoric and in their natural form; however, neither are they easy hikes. While the pathways have been carefully planned and wooden planking and railing set in place, the hike is full of stair climbing and many precarious situations. You would not want to have a free roaming toddler with you for this. The walks were amazing and it took us two separate days to get to all that we wanted to see. The exercise was wonderful and the views … Continue reading Hiking the Waterfall trails at Peace Lodge
I say that because this is how I feel every time I sit down to eat, drink, socialize, listen to music or just watch the sun make its exit from the day at our favorite restaurant here in Manuel Antonio. Barba Roja. Just the name itself conjures up visions of sailing ships, sea spray, rum and a million sunsets on a blue horizon. Oh, excuse me.. what? I’m sorry, just reliving my days as a pirate. Ha. Well, getting back to meat and potatoes here, let’s talk about the good people at Barba Roja. Nestled on a hillside on the … Continue reading Barba Rooooo Jaaaaaa…..
For those of you who live here or are familiar with the Manuel Antonio area, you may be wondering how I could possibly have left out the icon of Manuel Antonio. It also happens to be our own personal very favorite restaurant here, where we have good friends and enjoy great food, music and fun several times each week. Where, you may ask? Why Barba Roja of course. I did not mention it before because I am dedicating an entire blog to it. As one of the oldest restaurants in Manuel Antonio, it has made a good name for itself … Continue reading PS Just in Case…
Hello again, I thought I might take a moment to talk about our food experiences here. Although it can’t really been done well in a moment, I will share a few of our favorite ones. We honestly have not had any food here in the country that was not suitable or extremely delectable. While not decadent or swimming in sauces and gravies as a general rule, the people here know how to cook simple, interesting and healthy meals. The abundant supply of fresh produce helps as well as the presence of good, fresh fish, always available and affordable. As I … Continue reading Adventures in Food
Well, it has come to that moment where I simply must speak of my favorite things, and of course there are more than just a few of them that I have discovered both here and in other places I have … Continue reading Petal and Wing
